Webb misses seventh cut of LPGA career at Jamie Farr

In her seven seasons on the USLPGA Tour prior to this year, Karrie Webb had missed just five cuts in one hundred and sixty three starts. Today she missed her second cut of 2003 when her second round of 73 at the Jamie Farr Kroger Classic, left her one short of the required mark.
This followed a fifth placing at the Evian Masters and a tie for third at the recent Women’s British Open, so just when it appeared her slow start to 2003 was making a turn for the better, she has the weekend off in Ohio.
Not that many would turn down the year Karrie has had mind you. Seven top tens in fourteen starts leading into this week and just the one missed cut at the US Open, is hardly a bad year by the standards of most but given Webb’s remarkable performances of recent years, then this has been a comparatively ordinary year to date.
This is the longest she has gone without a win in any year since joining the LPGA Tour in 1996. In six previous starts in this event she has finished 2nd once, twice in 3rd place and once in 4th.
In 178 starts in her LPGA Tour career, Webb has produced 120 top tens, 69 of them top threes, including her 28 wins. All this before her 29th birthday. It is some record.
Laura Diaz leads the Jamie Farr Kroger Classic by three from the game’s hottest player in recent weeks, Hee-Won Han.
