Respective Presidents Cup Captains Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player have today named their final two players to make up the International and US Teams for the Presidents Cup in November.
KJ Choi and Tim Clark have made the International Team and Fred Funk and Jay Haas are the two to join the US side.
Nicklaus referred to the benefit of experience in his selections and while he made reference to the performances of Ben Curtis, Shaun Micheel and more especially Chad Campbell as being very much in consideration he opted for experienced players to balance his team.
Player referred to KJ Choi’s consistency and strength as the key points in his selection and that Clark not only had a great PGA but that had finished 13th at the Masters this year and was having a good year overall in the US. He also made mention of Clark’s ability in the wind.
Players such as Eduardo Romero, Michael Campbell, Toshi Izawa and Trevor Immelman can perhaps consider themselves a little unlucky but hey had their chance at the PGA and were leapfrogged by the finish of Clark.
