Adam Scott, who in the last three weeks has clinched a spot on his first Presidents Cup team and earned his first career PGA TOUR victory, has committed to play in the upcoming World Golf Championships-American Express Championship.
The $6 million event will be played Sept. 29-Oct. 5 at the Capital City Club's Crabapple Course in the Atlanta suburb of Woodstock.
Scott won last week's Deutsche Bank Championship by four strokes for his first career PGA TOUR victory. The 23-year-old Australian has now won five times around the world -- in South Africa, Qatar, Scotland, Sweden and the United States.
His latest victory vaulted him 22 places in the Official World Golf Ranking to a career-high 18th place.
The American Express Championship will be his seventh World Golf Championships event. He finished in third place earlier this year in the Accenture Match Play Championship, losing to Tiger Woods in 19 holes during the semifinals.
"Adam is one of the top young players in the game," said Todd Rhinehart, executive director of the American Express Championship. "If fans aren't familiar with him yet, they will be soon.
"He is a welcome addition to what is already shaping up to be a world-class field."
