Steve Elkington to play 2003 Australian PGA Championship

Former major winner Steve Elkington has confirmed he will be playing in the Australian PGA Championship at Hyatt Regency Coolum from 11 to 14 December.

And despite not having played the course before, he is confident he'll know more about it before he gets there. "I'll be spending plenty of time on Greg's boat before coming to Australia, so I'll know about every hole at Coolum," he said.

Apart from playing in the Australian PGA, Elkington is planning a family holiday on the Sunshine Coast (where his parents now live). But it's Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo that is proving to be a real drawcard for Elkington, whose 8 year old daughter Annie is a huge fan.

"Steve Irwin's place will probably be one of the first ports of call, said Elkington. "Annie writes to him all the time on email. She hasn't had a reply yet, but I tell her Steve's very busy with all those crocs...."

Importantly, Elkington is not receiving an appearance fee for the PGA Championship and was keen to come back and support the local Tour.

The PGA is preceded by the MasterCard Masters in Melbourne and Elkington will also contest that event.
