29-year-old Davis Cup star Scott Draper will tee it up at the Emerald Lakes Queensland PGA Championship on November 6th.

Draper, who plays off a plus one handicap at the Keperra Country Golf Club in Brisbane, has recently returned from a series of ATP events in Asia and the United States. He is currently ranked 84th in the Champions Race rankings on the ATP list and this year he has reached the quarter finals in Tiburon, Indianapolis, Shanghai and Tokyo.

“I haven’t had the chance to play a lot of late” said Draper at a press launch at the host course, Emerald Lakes on the Gold Coast yesterday “but I am really looking forward to testing my skills in the competitive environment of a Von Nida Tour event.”

Draper spent half an hour with the great Norman Von Nida himself looking over his swing on the practice fairway at Emerald Lakes after Norman had earlier spent some time with Chris Downes.

Draper looks to have a fine golf swing and hits the ball a long way. He went around Emerald Lakes in 68 in the afternoon after his lesson with The Von and said he is keen to practice hard this week in preparation for an event that will include Peter Senior, Chris Downes, Nathan Green, Mahal Pearce and Scott Hend amongst others.

“I have no real thoughts about a direction for my golf beyond tennis at this stage, but I love the game of golf and would consider pursuing this at a higher level when the time comes” said Draper.
