Rookie New Zealand professional Ben Gallie has set a new course record and moved into contention for the Queensland Open Golf Championship at Ipswich Golf Club.
The 25 year old from Queenstown fired eight birdies and one bogey for a 65, one better than the course record shared by 11 players. It left him at six under par after two rounds, four behind the progress leader, Euan Walters of Victoria who was at ten under par after 27 holes.
Players making a challenge in the perfect morning conditions included Scott Hend who was at nine under par after 33 holes and Scott Bouvier who was eight under for the day hitting off at the 18th.
