A golfer who has had a lot of success in Queensland, Lucas Parsons, is a late inclusion in the field for the Von Nida Tour’s 2003 Emerald Lakes Queensland PGA Championship.
With the withdrawal last week of one of the sponsors invites, Alan Cooper, the way has been paved for Parsons to again play at Emerald Lakes, a course on which he won a pro am in 1998 and an event where he has twice been the champion. Parsons won the Queensland PGA in 1997 and 1998 when it was staged at the Gold Coast Country Club.
Parsons has only recently returned from a European Tour campaign which saw the New South Welshman lose status although he is hoping that a return to a venue where he has had previous success, will spark a return to form.
“When I won here in 1998 the Emerald Lakes course was still undergoing changes and I understand from the guys at the event that the course is in great shape” said Parsons before leaving for the Gold Coast. “I am looking forward to getting back there and although it has been a tough year in Europe I am hoping that this event and the others in Australia before Christmas will see a return to form.”
Parsons will line up on Thursday against a field that will include Peter Senior, Wayne Grady, Chris Downes, Scott Hend, Mahal Pearce, Nathan Green, Stuart Bouvier and Shane Tait.
