David Diaz has fired a second round 64 at the 2003 Queensland PGA Championship and at twelve under par currently shares the lead with Jason King whose second round 67, included three bogeys in four holes in the middle of his round.

Diaz has played a few pro ams around Victoria this year but has only played small tournaments other than the occasional Von Nida Tour event. King has just returned from an unsuccessful bid to gain his European Tour card. He missed at the second stage and expressed his disappointment but is pleased to have bounced back here today.

Next at eleven under par is Andrew Bonhomme who added a 67 to his 66 yesterday although he has now been joined by NSW’s Richard Swift who is eleven for the tournament under after six holes of his second round. New Zealand Open champion Mahal Pearce is in fourth place at ten under along with fellow New Zealander Ben Gallie who followed his first round 68 with a six under par 66 today.

The morning groups have now finished and as was the case yesterday the afternoon field will face a freshening north easterly breeze.
