Stage two qualifying for the 2004 USPGA Tour has been completed at three of the six venues and four experienced Australian campaigners have made their way through to the finals.

In California, where play was extended an extra day due to weather issues, Mathew Goggin led the qualifiers at the Oak Valley Golf Club, winning by four shots over Jeff Freeman.

In Florida, Gavin Coles and Paul Gow have advanced with Gow coming from a long way back to secure one of the last spots at his venue in Panama City. Gow’s second round 81 appeared to have cost him any chance of a place in Florida on December 3rd, but he bounced back with a final round 68 that just got him home. Coles was 12th.

In Texas, Bradley Hughes finished 12th and will tee it up in Florida hoping to regain the fully exempt card he lost in 2001.

Australians Stuart Bouvier, Matt Zions and James McLean all missed out as did New Zealanders Tim Wilkinson and Eddie Lee who withdrew when well out of contention in round three.

Three further venues are being used this week (Wednesday 19th) to determine the other golfers who will advance to the final.
