Thirty-six of the seventy-two holes at the final stage of Champions Tour qualifying are now complete and West Australian Terry Gale remains in touch with the leaders and importantly well positioned to gain one of the eight fully exempt cards for the 2004 season.

Gale opened with an early birdie but then followed three bogies for a second round 74 and at four under he sits tied in fourth place, three behind England’s Mark James. Tied in second place are Zimbabwe’s Mark McNulty and American Mark Johnston.

The only other Australian, John Victorsen, has just made the cut after a second round 76 has him well back and he will need something miraculous if he is to challenge for one of the fully exempt spots or one of the eight further non-exempt spots.
