With just one more round to go to complete stage two qualifying for the 2004 USPGA Tour, several Australasians are well placed to advance to the ultimate test in Florida in two weeks time.

In California, Steve Alker (6th), Nathan Green (10th), Scott Hend (15th) and Tony Carolan (23rd) are all in with a good chance to advance. Adam Fraser who had been so well placed prior to today’s round, has slipped with a third round 77 to be in 43rd place and Ben Ferguson 58th.

In Texas, Andrew Buckle is now without any chance of a place in Florida, his third round 77 has him in 70th place and only a sub 60 tomorrow would get the job done it would seem. This will be a great disappointment as three weeks ago he had the chance of a place at the European final stage which he missed out on and now this week’s chance has most probably gone. Unless he can produce something dramatic on this year’s Australasian Tour he will be faced with the difficulty of being without a place to play in 2004.

In Florida, Grant Waite is in 10th place after three rounds.

The top twenty from each venue will advance to the Orange County National Course near Orlando for the final stage starting December 3rd. Those successful tomorrow will join others who qualified via stage two last week namely Mathew Goggin, Bradley Hughes, Paul Gow and Gavin Coles.
