Meg Mallon ends year with victory at ADT

A last round 67 and a last nine 31 for 40-year-old Meg Mallon, was enough to secure her 15th victory on the LPGA Tour when coming from behind to beat Annika Sorenstam.
It is not a phrase you hear very often in modern LPGA golf, namely a come from behind victory over Sorenstam, but the Massachusetts native did just that to win by one. She trailed Annika by four at the turn but played almost mistake free golf coming in, including five birdies, for her win.
Christie Kerr perhaps surprised all by finishing third, two shots ahead of Beth Daniel who was the only other golfer to break par for the four rounds.
Karrie Webb was 10th and Rachel Teske 13th.
The event finished the official season on the USLPGA Tour with Annika Sorenstam well ahead on the money list with $US2,029,506 compared to $US2,863,904 in 2002. Sorenstam’s year could be seen as just as successful however, given the tasks she has set herself and that she has won two majors in 2003.
She finished some $US418,000 ahead of Se Ri Pak who closed with $US1,611,000. Grace Park was 3rd, Hee Won Han 4th and Julie Inkster 5th the only other golfer to earn more than $US1 million.
Rachel Teske, the top Australasian, had by far her best year finishing in 7th place and winning $US924,000, almost $150,000 more than her previous best in 2002. Karrie Webb earned $790,000, her worst year since 1998 in terms of money.
