American golfer, David Toms has withdrawn from the US$4 million 2003 Nedbank Golf Challenge.
Toms, a former PGA Championship winner, made this announcement in George where he is competing in the President’s Cup, and has cited injury as the reason for his late withdrawal.
The shock announcement was made to Sun International’s Alastair Roper, Tournament Director of the Nedbank Golf Challenge.
“We will obviously miss a player of Toms’ calibre in the 18-man field,” said Roper “but we are fortunate in having some of the best players in the world in the country at the moment, and we have extended an invitation to Tim Clark to play in Toms’ place.”
