Last years US Amateur Champion, 22-year-old Ricky Barnes, has become the latest addition to the Australian PGA Championship at Hyatt Regency Coolum.

Barnes, the low amateur of this year’s US Masters, when he was paired with Tiger Woods and Ernie Els for the first two days, joins an impressive line up of international talent.

Norman, Beem, Elkington, Scott, Cink, Lonard, Moseley, Parry, Beck and Van de Velde, form the nucleus of what looks to be one of the better fields in the summer of golf.

“Ricky is new to the circuit, having turned Professional on July 18 after the Open Championship, but he is already well known in golfing circles.

“He is big, blonde and aggressive on the golf course, providing us with just the type of player we need to complement our field,” said Tournament Director, Rod Leembruggen.

“The golfing world sat up and took notice of Ricky when he went head to head with Tiger and Ernie at The Masters, and although his first few starts as a Professional have been disappointing, there is no doubt he has a bright future in front of him. He hits the ball huge distances and will be great to watch,” he said.

The Australian PGA Championship will be played at Hyatt Regency Coolum from December 11 – 14.
