Play suspended at 2003 MasterCard Masters

IN: News | Australasian PGA | MasterCard Masters (2003) | Round One | by Bruce Young | 04 Dec 2003

The storms that produced so much damage to the Melbourne area on Tuesday night have returned at 12.00 noon today and play in the first round of the MasterCard Australian Masters has been suspended while the threatening skies and lightning strikes hopefully pass.

When play was called to a halt Craig Carmichael and Geoff Ogilvy had a share of the lead at five under, one ahead of Peter Senior and Steve Bowditch, the only one of those mentioned to have finished his round.

It is expected that the delay will be for at least thirty minutes. Ninety of the field of 132 are either on the course or finished their rounds with still some forty two players yet to tee off.
