Allenby threatens to blow Mastercard Masters field apart

Victoria's Robert Allenby threatens to take total control of the MasterCard Australian Masters through eleven holes of the second round following a run of four holes which has included two birdies and an eagle. He now stands at ten under for the tournament and has a three shot lead over Peter Senior with another shot back to West Australian Nick O'Hern.
Allenby, who is coming off a tough two weeks in South Africa where he was instrumental in the outcome of the Presidents Cup when he halved his match with Davis Love III, has had five birdies, an eagle and two bogeys in his round to date and has an opportunity to blow the field apart as the afternoon conditions continue to ease.
An hour and a half ago the tournament was well poised with as many as twenty players within three shots of the lead but now there is only one, namely Queensland veteran Peter Senior. Still the last seven or eight holes here at Huntingdale have proved the downfall of several players over the last two days and with many potential accidents waiting to happen, Allenby must keep his wits about him if he is to maintain and perhaps extend his lead.
The cut at present is looking to be around one or two under with 63 players currently at one over or better. The cut will include the top sixty and ties.
