Allenby prepares for chance at Masters crown

IN: News | Australasian PGA | MasterCard Masters (2003) | Final Round | by Bruce Young | 07 Dec 2003

The final round of the 2003 MasterCard Australian Masters is underway at the Huntingdale Golf Club in Melbourne with the final group of Robert Allenby and James Nitties scheduled to tee off at 1:08pm EDST.

A day of much expectation as 21-year-old Nitties from the Charlestown Golf Club near Newcastle faces his biggest examination, Allenby looks to win his first event in two years and others look to chase them down.

Six shots separate fourteen players with Allenby in front by two and so much will depend on the performance of Robert Allenby today as to how many others have a serious chance of winning. A solid round of two or three under by him may well be enough to get the job done but if he succumbs to a lingering illness he has had all week, then those still in with a chance may well go down as far as four under.

The weather is again fine but overcast with no breeze at 8:30am.
