Elkington finally comes good

IN: News | Australasian PGA | MasterCard Masters (2003) | Final Round | by Bruce Young | 07 Dec 2003

Steve Elkington has made a big move on day four of the Australian Masters with a run that has him at six under through eleven holes and now within seven of the leader Robert Allenby. Elkington's early rounds of 72, 69 and 79 had him at three over for the tournament before teeing off and hardly the drawcard that many had hoped he would be.

His finish today, provided he can keep it going, will see him nicely tuned up for the Australian PGA Championship next week at Hyatt Coolum. Other than the Franklin Templeton shootout last month this is his first event since the British Open where a second round 86 saw him take three months off. He will be keen to make amends at the par four 18th today, a hole that has cost him five shots in three rounds.
