Beautiful conditions have welcomed the field on day one of the Australian PGA Championship at the Hyatt Coolum Resort on the Sunshine Coast and already the scoring indicates those out early are taking full advantage.

David Diaz is the talk of the morning so far with a hole in one at his second hole, the course's eleventh, but he needed it as he had opened with a double bogey.

Swede Jens Nilsson and New South Wales Paul Sheehan are at three under and leading at 8.05 E.S.T. and they lead by a shot over John Sutherland, Ed Stedman, Martin Doyle and Steve Conran.

Paul Sheehan and Steve Conran have just returned from successful seasons in Japan with Sheehan, in his rookie year there, finishing 20th on the money list.

Greg Chalmers has been forced to withdraw from the Australian PGA after waking up with a high temperature this morning. His replacement, Malcolm Neville, has now teed off with Nick O'Hern and US PGA Tour rookie and former US Amateur champion Ricky Barnes.
