Greg Turner bows out of tournament golf in style

IN: News | Australasian PGA | Australian PGA Championship (2003) | Final Round | 14 Dec 2003

The final group of Peter Senior and Wade Ormsby, has just hit off on day four of the Australian PGA Championship of 2003 and as the afternoon sea breeze strengthens the latter groups of the day are faced with slightly more difficult conditions than earlier in the week.

Ormsby and Senior both parred the first hole to stay on their overnight scores but both Rod Pampling and Craig Parry have made moves to reduce Senior's lead to four.

An early move near the top of the board has come from Scott Laycock who birdied three of the first four holes to move to twelve under and he now shares fifth place with Scott Gardiner.

The best round of the day to date has come from New Zealand professional Greg Turner who, in his final appearance in major tournament golf has fired a bogey free 67. Turner has indicated he will now focus on several developing business interests including golf course design.

"I think today might have been the last day, I'm finished," said Turner after his round. "Unless something very strange happens in the next couple of months then that's me."
