Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee overcame the disappointment of missing his USPGA Tour card just last week in Florida when he rushed back to his homeland and won the Volvo Masters of Asia.

A month ago Jaidee had finished first at his venue at the second stage of USPGA Tour qualifying and advanced to the final stage with the confidence of that performance behind him. Things went horribly wrong at the final stage in Florida however as he would finish 128th and although that will give him some status on the Nationwide Tour, he missed what would have been a first for Thailand, one of their golfers on the USPGA Tour.

To his credit he bounced back this week and his win now moves him to third on the Asian PGA Tour money list in 2003 behind Arjun Atwal who now has his PGA Tour card and China’s Zhang Lian Wei.

Second placed Lin Keng-chi of Taipei missed a playoff with Jaidee by one but moved inside the top ten on the money list from just six starts this season. Lin plays much of his golf in Japan.

The much improved Jason Dawes was 13th, David Gleeson and Unho Park were 23rd, Scott Barr 35th, Marcus Both 48th, Pat Giles 51st and Adam Fraser 54th and Kim Felton 65th.
