Ormsby and Marantz amongst early movers at Australian Open

IN: News | Australasian PGA | Australian Open (2003) | Round Three | by Bruce Young | 20 Dec 2003

The third round of the Australian Open Championship is under way under overcast skies and with a gentle breeze wafting across the course from the south and again perfect scoring conditions, or at least at this stage of the day.

The last group of Chris Downes and Stephen Allan tee off at 1:10 EDST just nine minutes after Nathan Green and Ricky Barnes.

The early mover on day three has been New South Wales golfer Paul Marantz, who opened with four consecutive birdies to move from two over to two under, and is now within five of the lead. Marantz, who recently gained his European Tour card, shot a disastrous five over 77 yesterday, his birdie at the last saving him from the possibility of a missed cut and he is now very much back in the tournament.

Another early mover is the South Australian and a star at last week's PGA Championship, Wade Ormsby. Ormsby has moved from two over to one under to further highlight the amazing potential this young man has.
