Lonard moves to world No.28 after Australian Open

In the final event of the 2003 PGA Tour of Australasia schedule, Peter Lonard shot a final-round 67 to win the Australian Open Championship at the Moonah Links Golf Club in Victoria.

Lonard's one-shot victory over Chris Downes and Stephen Leaney leaves him atop of the Final Australian Order of Merit with AUD$604,000 and elevates him 14 places up the Official World Golf Ranking to World No.28. Stephen Leaney and first-round leader Chris Downes finished as the joint runners-up this week.

Leaney, who was also runner-up at this year's US Open, finishes the year ranked No.31 in the world while Chris Downes improves 179 positions to just outside the World Top 200 at No.205.
