Tiger moves into four stroke lead

Tiger Woods fired a -9 (63) to move four strokes clear of the field after two rounds at the Buick Open. Woods began the day two strokes behind first round leader, Kent Jones, but the deficit was soon erased as he notched up seven birdies and an eagle on his way to a 63. He is ominous form leading into next week's USPGA championship in Minnesota.
Scott Verplank carded a 65 to move to -10 along with J.J. Henry, who has had back-to-back 67's. Rod Pampling, Kent Jones, Pat Bates, Glen Day, Esteban Toledo and Carlos Franco were all at -9. A further eight players sit at -8, including Jim Furyk and 2001 PGA Championship winner David Toms. World number two, Phil Mickelson, finished his round at -2 and will go into the weekend at -5.
As mentioned above, Rod Pampling, leads the ANZ players after a superb -6 (66) that moved him from 27th to 4th place at -9. John Senden is next in line at -7 (T18) after closing with a -3 (69). Stuart Appleby is at -5 (T27), Steve Allan 41st, Craig Perks, Phil Tataurangi and Geoff Ogilvy 64th.
Michael Long, Paul Gow, Mathew Goggin, Frank Nobilo, Greg Chalmers, Grant Waite, Craig Parry, Robert Allenby and Bradley Hughes missed the cut.
