I'm not sure if he qualifies for being a veteran yet although he is often mentioned as being one but Bernhard Langer seems to be playing as well this year as at any other stage of his career.
His win here at his own event was his second in three months following his win in Holland. Combine this with five top tens in the US this season including 6th place at the Masters, 3rd at the Players Championship and second at the Fed Ex event along with a third at the British Open and he is doing very nicely thank you.
John Daly once again showed a liking for Germany having won there earlier in the season and his weekend rounds of 64 and 65 made a huge amount of ground to nearly grab Langer. Also tied second was Swede Frederik Jacobssen.
Peter O'Malley, despite a horrific and costly bogey-double bogey finish, was the leading Australian in 19th place. The cheque of (equiv) $A57,000 lifts him to 21st on the order of merit and one spot ahead of Adam Scott. O'Malley's finish cost him the best part of $A50,000 but he is still having an outstanding year with nearly $A1,200,000 in Europe alone. He really is the quiet achiever.
Defending champion New Zealander Michael Campbell was 19th, Stephen Leaney who was in position to challenge into the last round in second place faded badly with a last round of 77 to fall back to 32nd, John Senden 41st, Lucas Parsons 58th, and Adam Scott 75th.
