Wright lone Aussie at US Women's Amateur

Defending champion Meredith Duncan was eliminated in round one of morning matchplay, losing to Australian Katherine Hull on the second extra hole of a playoff (20th hole) at the Sleepy Hollow Country Club. Hull was then forced out by former US Junior Girl's champion, Aree Wongluekiet, 4 and 3. Wongluekiet then went on to defeat Leigh Anne Hardin, 2 up. Lindsey Wright is now the only Australian left in the field after defeating Meaghan Francella, 4 and 2.
Courtney Swaim, who set a 36-hole qualifying record earlier this week, was beaten by Elizabeth Janangelo, 2 and 1.
After two rounds (36 holes) of stroke play, the lowest 64 scorers advanced to match play. The first two rounds of match play, consisting of 18 holes each, was scheduled for Wednesday (US Time), with the third round and quarterfinals set for Thursday (US Time). The semifinals are scheduled for Friday (US Time) and the 36-hole final is set for Saturday (US Time).
