Golden shines at Canadian Women's Open

Kate Golden secured the outright lead of the Bank of Montreal Canadian Women's Open after posting a first round of -5 (67) that included an eagle on the par five ninth hole, her last of the day. Korean Mi Hyun Kim, who has already tasted success this year with two titles under her belt, finished one stroke back at -4 (68).
Australian Michelle Ellis took up where she left off last week when she finished second at the Women's British Open. This week Ellis has fired a -3 (69) to take a share of third place in the first round with the next best Australasian being the lady that beat her, Karrie Webb. Webb posted an Even Par round of 72 to end the first day in equal 22nd.
Veteran Jan Stephenson and Karen Pearce both moved into 29th following rounds of 1 (73) while a trio of players including Finao Pike, sit in 52nd at 2. Rachel Teske finished in 67th place at 3.
