He swung and swung and swung. And he hit and hit and hit. When he finally dropped his three-wood and lowered his weary arms, Californian David Ogron had set a new Guinness World Record for most golf balls hit in one hour with an incredible mark of 2,272. The record-breaking performance, which topped his own previous world best total of 2,146, was held on April 3rd at the BellSouth Classic, Atlanta’s PGA TOUR event.

Ogron also owns the record for balls hit in 12-hour (6,971) and 24-hour (10,392) periods. These are not easy tasks considering he had to hit the balls at least 100 yards and within a 30-degree arc in order to meet regulations set by Guinness officials. His performance at the BellSouth Classic was in front of a large and raucous crowd who cheered him on as he neared the record.

According to Guinness, 9,352 golfers have attempted the 24-hour record over the years, and more than 35,000 have attempted the one-hour record. Ogron is the only person to hold all three marks simultaneously. He has appeared on ABC, NBC and CBS News, ESPN, The Golf Channel and The Best Damn Sports Show Period on the Fox Sports Network

Through his nationwide Miracle Golf Tour, David seeks to raise awareness and funds for children with cancer. He has been working with the National Children’s Cancer Society (NCCS) for the past year, both financially and emotionally supporting kids and families in need.

“My father died of cancer so to honor him I’m raising money for the NCCS,” he said. “I raise money for the children and that’s the number one thing here. A lot of these children are terminal, so I’m really motivated to help them.”
