Martin Doyle takes early lead in SA PGA

Victorian Martin Doyle has taken the early lead in the Cadbury Schweppes SA PGA Championship at Grange East in Adelaide with a solid four under round of 68.

Doyle has come off a four week break, giving him a fresh and sharp edge to his game.

West Australian Dean Alaban and UK professional Paul Robshaw, are sitting comfortably in second position after the morning play was completed.

After several weeks of brilliant Autumn weather, players were greeted by sweeping rain showers and a stiff breeze, mid round, which impacted on scoring. The tough East course will offer players a real test throughout the tournament even without inclement weather.

South Australian players Gary Simpson and Roger Stephens gave locals some hope of a SA victory with rounds of 70, on which they can consolidate in the second round.
