Carmichael sets the pace in SA PGA

IN: News | Von Nida | South Australian PGA Championship (2004) | Round Two | 30 Apr 2004

Proven Von Nida Tour performer, Craig Carmichael, has set the target for the halfway lead with a second round three under par 69, giving him a two round total of 143. He is one shot clear of Scott Martyn, Brad Parker and Gavin Vearing after the completion of the morning play.

Carmichael is considered a strong chance in this event, having previously won on the VNT, and consistently puts himself in contention.

In a remarkable turn-around, Scott Strange followed his disappointing 83 yesterday, with an impressive 67, the best score of the tournament thus far.

Another highlight was an ace by Richard Backwell at the par 3 eighth hole. His well struck 6 iron traveled 162m and finished in the hole to give him his tenth ace in his career.

Afternoon players set out in brilliant sunshine, but the weather has turned nasty and they are now coping with heavy rain.
