Day and Maker through to QLD Amateur final

Maker accommodated Lammi - 4 & 3. Maker again birdied 5 and 6, and was 4 up after 8 holes, before losing 9th and 10th to Lammi's birdies. Further birdies to Maker on the 12th and 13th holes enabled him to finish off the match at the 15th.
Day proved to be too strong for Gallichan, holding on to a lead established with wins on 7th (eagle), 9th, 10th and 12th holes. With both players tiring from an exhausting week over the closing holes, Day managed to hold on for a 2 & 1 win.
Thus the Championship will go to either the experienced 22 year-old Maker, or the emerging talent in the 16 year-old Australian Junior Champion, Jason Day. For Maker, a win would be the highlight of his career to date, while for Day, it would signal his arrival as a competitive force in open-age competition. It is believed that Day would become the youngest Queensland Amateur Champion in the 104 year history of the Championship if successful tomorrow.
The 36 hole final will commence at 9:00 am tomorrow (Friday 7th May) at Oxley Golf Club.
