Richard Swift and Geoff Lound have both missed out on a spot in the matchplay phase of the US Amateur Championships being played at Oakland Hills following the final round of qualifying this morning.

Swift had rounds of 79 and 73 to miss by nine shots and Geoff Lound was four shots further back. The cut was made at three over with several players playing off for the final spots.

Just to make the event was a considerable achievement for both players however, with some 7,500 entries going through the various qualifying processes to make the three hundred and twelve man strokeplay field.

The medallist was South Carolina native Bill Haas, the winner of the recent Players Am event in his home state, and the son of USPGA Tour player Jay. Haas had a thirty six hole total of five under par.
