Green in the pink after 65 at Scottish PGA

Australian Richard Green closed his first round at 65 for the second time in as many weeks to claim a one stroke lead at the 2002 Scottish PGA Championship. Swede Fredrik Andersson, sits one stroke back from Green after bogeying the 18th because of a lost ball.
Eleven players sit in a tie for 3rd place at -5, among them two Aussies, Adam Scott and Scott Gardiner. Scott eagled the last to erase the bogey 5 at the Par 4 5th hole. Scot Sandy Lyle, who has shown a recent return to form, and Kiwi Stephen Scahill were the leading players amongst the eleven players sitting in 14th place at -4.
Brett Rumford and Peter Senior closed the first round at -3 and in equal 25th. Peter Fowler sits a stroke back at -2, followed by Kiwi Elliot Boult, Stephen Leaney and Nick O’Hern at -1.
