With results through from several of the sectional qualifying venues for next week’s US Open, three more Australians in addition to the seven already exempt, now have a place in the field for the big event.
Steve Allan just scrapped in at his venue in New Jersey but two Australians at that venue are faced with a playoff on Tuesday for the one remaining spot there. Peter Fowler and Scott Hend take on Ricky Barnes, Steve Pate and Matthew Cannon for the one final spot at the Canoe Brook Country Club in New Jersey after they had tied in 22nd place after thirty six holes today. Twenty two players from the original 138 teeing it up there are to get through.
Brendan Jones and Aaron Baddeley are also into the field next week by qualifying in Columbus, Ohio. Jones had rushed from his Nationwide Tour event in Tennessee yesterday where he finished fourth to be at the qualifying. Jones now has a start at the US and British Opens. He gained a British Open start via the International Qualifying in Australia earlier this season.
