Sim takes out Southern Amateur in US

19-year-old West Australian, Michael Sim, has today won the Southern Amateur Championship in Tennessee by three shots after leading for much of the seventy-two holes.

As a result of his win he now has an invitation to the PGA Tour’s Bay Hill Invitational next March and has gone a long way to cementing his position on the Australian Eisenhower team for later in the year. He ran out the winner by three over Californian Spencer Levin. Levin is remembered for his superb effort when the leading amateur at Shinnecock Hills last month.

The event was played at the Pete Dye designed, Honours Course in Ooltewah, Tennessee.

Sim is expected to travel to Orlando to take up the chance to play in his first USPGA Tour event next year.
