Craig Barlow, who is looking for his first win in 125 starts on the US PGA Tour, fired a -6 (65) to take a one stroke lead at -10 after the second round of the US$3.5 million Air Canada Championship.
Robert Allenby fired a superb -9 (62) to move into a tie for second place along with fellow Aussie Peter Lonard, who today made his 20th straight cut on the US PGA Tour this year, carding a -4 (67) along with David Gossett all at -9. In his last two tournaments, Allenby has set the course record at the NEC International with an -8 (63) and tied the Hazeltine record the previous week at the US PGA with a -6 (66) and his 62 today was only one off the course record.
Steve Lowery, Kevin Sutherland and Gene Sauers share fifth place on -8, with Canada’s Stephen Ames, Rory Sabbatini and Americans, Jim McGovern and Blaine McCallister all closed at -7.
Paul Gow and Aaron Baddeley’s woes continue again this week with both players among six Australasians to miss the weekend cut.
