34-year-old, Craig Jones, from Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, leads after day one of the Japan Golf Tour’s Coca Cola Tokai Classic near Nagoya.
Jones, who finished 12th last week at the rain shortened Acom International, has played solidly this season, his first full season on the Japan Golf Tour. He played in six events last year but this year, in fifteen events prior to this week, he has recorded one top ten and three other top twenties to be in 62nd place on the money list. A big week this week, will assist in getting him starts in the lucrative end of season events coming up.
Jones, the 1994 New Zealand Open Champion, has benefited from having a place to play in 2004 and continues to build on his great fourth place finish at last year’s Australian Open.
Paul Sheehan, who finished second last week, is in second place after the first round today, two shots behind his fellow countryman.
The tournament is worth ¥120 million of A$1.5 million.
