Semi-finals underway at HSBC World Match Play

Spain’s Miguel Angel Jimenez won his quarter final against Bernhard Langer of Germany to complete the 2004 HSBC World Match Play Championship semi-final line up.
The match bewteen Jimenez and Langer, which the Spaniard won by 2 & 1 was carried over to Saturday morning because fading light stopped play on Friday.
Already through to the semi finals were defending champion Ernie Els, who beat Angel Cabrera by 1 Hole, Padraig Harrington who survived an injured hand to defeat Thomas Levet also by 1 Hole and Lee Westwood who saw off US Open Champion Retief Goosen 2 & 1.
Early on five-time HSBC World Match Play Champion Els is All Square with Padraig Harrington after 6 holes and Jimenez is 1up over 2000 winner Westwood after 5 holes.
