After another tough day at the Rio Mar Resort in Puerto Rico, this time on the Ocean Course, the Australian Espirito Santo Team has fallen further behind the leaders. The tougher Ocean Course layout really putting paid to any chances the team had of making progress on day two. They remain in 22nd position but have lost ground to those ahead.

Again it was the scores of Sarah Kemp (76) and Sarah Jane Kenyon (78) which would count, with Katy Jarokowicz not bothering the scorer with 82. Kenyon’s quadruple bogey at the par three 12th, would prove unsettling, another double bogey at the last rubbing further salt into the wound.

Kemp is the best of the three Australians in 45th place in the individual standings.

The overall leaders are still Canada although this time it was Laura Matthews who stepped up to the plate for them, producing her second consecutive round of 70. Her fellow team mate Mary Ann Lapointe who led the individual yesterday after a brilliant 67 was around in 76 today to slip back. Sweden is three behind in second place, their star being the individual leader Karen Sjodin, who at five under leads by one over Matthews and American Jane Park.

The US Team is one behind the Swedes in third place, their best being the US Amateur Champion, Park.

The New Zealanders made a good move today improving from 22nd overnight to 12th courtesy to a very good round of 71 by Penny Newbrook. Newbrook improved seven shots today playing the River Course, producing an almost mistake free round of one bogey and 17 pars. Claire Dury was their other player to count with a second round 75.
