Annika Sorenstam, in her first start on the USLPGA Tour since last month's British Open, now has a chance to secure her seventh win of the year on tour. Throw in three second placings and three thirds plus two wins internationally and you would have to say that Sorenstam has earned her "supper" this year. A win here will take her earnings to $US2,061,000 for the year on the USLPGA Tour.
After two rounds of the fifty four hole Williams Championship Sorenstam at 6 under has established a narrow one shot lead over Canadian Lorie Kane and Cristie Kerr and by two over Candie Kung and Catriona Matthew who are both at four under.
Beth Bauer, currently leading the Rookie of the Year title, is next in a group with Shani Waugh, Tracy Hanson, Joanne Mills and Kris Tschetter and Pamela Kerrigan.
Bauer looks set to take the rookie title now that Natalie Gulbis has not had a good week here. There is just the one event left, after this week, to decide the winner.
Other Australians to make the cut were Wendy Doolan at even par, Rachel Teske at 1 over, Michelle Ellis at 2 over with Tamie Durdin and Karen Pearce at 3 over.
