Campbell wins third title of the year

The second person this season to claim a battlefield promotion to the USPGA Tour, Chad Campbell did so by winning this event in California. Campbell who had started the week in second place on the money list behind Heath Slocum, who is now on the USPGA Tour, earned his third win of the year.

Winners of three events in any one season on the Buy.Com Tour earn immediate access to the main tour by way of the battlefield promotion arrangement, with Slocum already having achieved that this season. Whether Campbell takes advantage of that promotion in the last three events available to him this season will be interesting to see. If he retains his number one position on the money list then next season he will have the advantage of a full season of starts next year without re ranking concerns. If he goes and plays in the last few events he risks losing the number one position to perhaps Rod Pampling. It may be that he will choose to stay on the Buy.Com Tour until the end of the year and therefore start a fresh next year with hopefully full exemption. The lure of the USPGA Tour is strong however.

Jamie Rogers the Melbourne born US based Australian had one of his better finishes this year in 9th place, David McKenzie was 12th and Rod Pampling his worst finish for some time in 32nd.
