The Eisenhower trophy in Puerto Rico has, it would seem, turned into a one horse race with the Americans going even further ahead after round three. They now have a nine shot lead over Spain with another shot back to the Swedes who are looking to follow the fine performance of their Ladies team, who last week won the Espirito Santo Trophy, also at Rio Mar Resort.

Ryan Moore continues to lead the individual standings by two shots over fellow American Spencer Levin with Sweden’s, Alex Noren and Holland’s, Will Besseling, two shots further back in third.

The performance of the day however, came for the 19-year-old New Zealander Josh Geary who, despite his inexperience at this level of the game, equalled the best round of the day (67) and moved from 14th to equal fifth in the individual standings. His performance lifted the New Zealanders to 21st in the standings.

The Australians were not so good today and were unable to take advantage of the easier River Course. James Nitties was again the best, his 72 and the 73 of Michael Sim seeing the team slip five places to now be in 12th place in the team standings. James Nitties is the best of the Australians in the individual standings in 15th place, having slipped from fourth overnight.

One round remains but the Americans already appear to have the Trophy well and truly in their keeping. It is perhaps surprising that this, providing they do go on and win of course, will be only the third occasion that the Eisenhower Trophy has gone to the Americans in the last eleven stagings of the event.
