The second round of the 2004 Toyota Queensland PGA is underway at the Emerald Lakes Golf Club on the Gold Coast under cloudless skies and hot temperatures. Strong breezes are expected later in the day with temperatures expected to reach the mid 30s.

The overnight leader, South Australian Gary Simpson, who battled the breezy afternoon conditions is taking advantage of his early morning tee time on day two and through six holes today is three under for the day and now twelve under for the tournament.

His overnight lead of one has now been stretched to three shots over his playing partner Kurt Barnes of New South Wales who is three under for the day also.

Glenn Kelly and Michael Wright, who led for much of the day yesterday with opening rounds of 64, remain in a share of third but they will play in the afternoon group today.

Peter Senior is on the course but an early double bogey has seen him slip to two over for the day and at just one under for the tournament, he has some work to do to not only be in contention, but to be around for the final 36 holes tomorrow. The cut is expected to be around four, perhaps five, under at the completion of play this evening.
