He’s probably become the most envied golf fan in Australia. Not only was his name plucked from approximately 10,000 entries across the country, but he gets to bring his three best mates with him for the experience of a lifetime.
Wayne Teece, from Queensland’s Gold Coast is the winner of Hahn’s Ultimate Golf Experience at this year’s Hillross Australian Open. For the entire week of the tournament, the “Hahn VIP Team” of his regular golf companions, Ian and Doug and “best mate”, father Michael, will be subjected to enviable VIP treatment and see a side of the Open that only a privileged few ever experience.
Wayne, 29, a self confessed golf nut received the good news on Monday morning.
“When I got the phone call I was sure it was my mates pulling my leg. I watch a lot of golf at home on the tele and it is just sinking in that I’ll get the chance to hit off with some of the best. It’s just unbelievable,” said Wayne.
Wayne who plays off 16 and is a member of the Gold Coast’s Paradise Springs said that deciding who was going to join him in Sydney was easy:
“Ian and Doug made it pretty clear that if I didn’t pick them I’d have to find someone else to have a beer with. Picking Dad was ’a no brainer’, he is my best mate and I know he’ll get a kick out of the whole thing. It’s going to be an amazing week away,” said Wayne.
To get the ball rolling, The Hahn VIP Team will get the chance to show the pros how it’s done when they tee up alongside some of the world’s best in the Open’s Pro Am tournament. For the guys in the group who may be feeling a little rusty, Hahn has organised a private coaching clinic with one of the tournament players.
“We’re not much better than hackers really, so the clinic will be very welcome,” said Wayne.
As the Open kicks off, the Hahn VIP Team will walk the course inside the roped off areas, alongside some of the world’s best golfers, witnessing all the drama as it unfolds at this hundred year old event. In fact, they’ll be so close to the action they’ll have to watch every backswing to ensure they keep their ’pearly whites’ intact.
During the week, the Hahn Team will also:
- Attend a press conference at the media centre
- Zip around the course in a buggy with a tournament official
- Visit the outside broadcast van to view the TV action
- Celebrate at the winner’s cocktail party.
And if it’s all too much, they can head back to the Official Tournament Hotel, their home for the week, and kick back with a Hahn beer or two whilst recapping the day’s action.
Finally, the winner will receive a signed golf bag to take home as a memento.
Hahn is the Official Beer of both the Hillross Australian Open and the PGA Tour of Australasia.
