Australian Paul Sheehan won his second tournament of the 2004 Japan Golf Tour when he took the last event of the season in Tokyo today.

The Golf Nippon Series JT Cup is effectively the Japan Golf Tour’s Tour Championship bringing together leading money winners and winners this year.

Sheehan, who earlier this year won the Fujisankei Classic at the Kawana Golf Club, put paid to the rest of the field with a fast start today with two birdies in the first three holes and while there were others in contention until early on the back nine, he drew away to win by four.

Sheehan moves to 4th place on the 2004 Japan Golf Tour money list with earnings of A$1.06 million. Y.E. Yang and Katsumasa Miyamoto tied for second, although four behind the 27-year-old Victorian-based New South Welshman.

David Smail continued his good form to finish in a share of fourth with Brendan Jones, competing in his last Japan Golf Tour event before heading to the USPGA Tour next season, alone in 7th place.

Steve Conran was 14th with Andre Stolz improving over the weekend but finishing 26th in the 26 player field.

Most of the Australasian players now head for Melbourne and the MasterCard Masters this week.
