Tony Roosenburg, President of SFX Sports Golf, has announced the strongest field to participate in the $2 million Heineken Classic at Royal Melbourne Golf Club, 3-6 February 2005.
“All the players are long-term supporters of the Heineken Classic and obviously have an enormous respect for the Royal Melbourne Composite Course. The fact that the Heineken Classic is co-sanctioned between the Australasian and European Tours makes it a lot easier to attract a field of such international quality, said Roosenburg.
“I am excited to announce the commitment of the following players:”
Ernie Els – winner of the last three Heineken Classics’ played at Royal Melbourne and holder of the course record at Royal Melbourne after his first round of 60 at last year’s event.
Greg Norman – Australia’s crowd favourite and long time supporter of the Heineken Classic.
Adam Scott and Stuart Appleby – the two highest ranked Australian golfers in the World and both winners on the US PGA Tour in 2004.
Nick Faldo – multiple major winner
Thomas Bjorn and Michael Campbell – both previous winners of the Heineken Classic
Colin Montgomerie, Craig Parry and Trevor Immelman – negotiations with these three players are progressing in such a way that we are confident they will be with us in February.
“I am absolutely delighted with the great mix of European and Australasian players assembled and I am confident that we will continue to add significant depth to the player field”, said Roosenburg.
The Heineken Classic will be played at The Royal Melbourne Golf Club on 3 – 6 February 2005. Tickets on sale now at Ticketmaster7.
