Englishman Paul Casey fired a course record -10 (62) to claim a two shot lead over Australian Stephen Leaney following the third round of the 2002 German Masters in Cologne. Casey proved unstoppable with six birdies in his first seven holes, and then three further birdies and an eagle on the way home. Amazingly, his round of 62 also included a bogey at the 10th hole. Overnight leader Ian Woosnam carded a -4 (68) to sit three strokes from the lead in equal 4th.
Leaney played consistently all day but dropped a shot on the final hole to post a -6 (66) and shares second place with German Alex Cejka, who equalled Roger Davis' previous course record of -9 (63) until Casey's 62.
Peter O'Malley is the next best of the Australians after Leaney at -9 along with world number three, Ernie Els. Richard Green is another three strokes back at -6 and in equal 44th, closely followed by Jarrod Moseley at -5 (T54).
