Peter Lonard’s two-stroke victory in last week’s MCI Heritage has vaulted him into seventh place in this week’s Presidents Cup International Team standings.

Lonard entered the week in 15th place.

His victory also means that of the first 16 events on the 2005 PGA TOUR schedule, 14 have been won by players who competed in the last Presidents Cup in South Africa, which ended in an historic 17-17 tie.

Davis Love III’s tie for second-place at Harbour Town GL moved him from 10th place into the seventh spot for the United States Team standings, while Scott Verplank’s tie for 10th, moved him into the 10th position in the standings.

Following are the standings for the International teams through April 18. The International team standings are based on the Official World Golf Ranking.

The United States and International Teams will be made up of the top 10 in the standings at the conclusion of the PGA Championship on Sunday, August 14. The following Monday, United States Captain Jack Nicklaus and International Captain Gary Player will round out their 12-man squads with each making two Captains’ Picks.

Tickets, which are limited to enhance the viewing experience for spectators, may be purchased by visiting www.presidentscup.com or by calling 1-877-PREZ-TIX (773- 9849). There will be a limit of 20,000 spectators per day to provide the best viewing experience, and with more daily tickets available than in the past, it is expected that the event will sell out quickly.

The Presidents Cup features many of the world’s best golfers with 12 representing the United States and 12 making up the International Team of players from around the world, excluding Europe in team match-play competition. The United States has won three of the first five Presidents Cups. The 2003 Presidents Cup ended in a 17-17 tie after both teams decided to share the Cup in a show of sportsmanship.
