Hodgetts grabs lead in SA PGA Championship
IN: News | Von Nida | South Australian PGA Championship (2005) | Round Two | 27 Apr 2005
Tasmanian professional Robin Hodgetts shot the tournament low round of seven under 65 to grab the halfway lead of the South Australian PGA Championship at Grange West.
His great round enabled him to forge ahead of South Australian amateur, David Lutterus by two shots, and three shots clear of Chris Gray and Tony McFadyean.
Hodgetts is another player coming in to the professional ranks with an outstanding amateur career behind him. A superb ball striker, he has served notice that he is capable of a victory early in his professional career.
McFadyean turned in another solid performance, following up his 67 with a three under 69, putting him well in contention.
Fifty four players made the cut at even par 144, with Jordan Sherratt, after a great 67, joining Lutterus as the only amateurs to taste the final rounds pressure.
USA visitor Eric Egloff displayed a solid game to join a host of contenders who should provide a close finish in the final two rounds.
