Colombian golfer Eduardo Herrera leads the Asian Tour Q-School through 54 of the 90 holes, the ex-Japan and PGA Tour player two shots clear of England’s Ally Mellor.
43-year-old Herrera, who played the PGA Tour in 2002 after several years in Japan where he won five events, trail-blazed in many respects for the fine Colombian golfers both male and female who are now making such an impact in world golf headed of course by Camilo Villegas.
One or two players were stranded on the golf course at the end of day three, one being the Englishman John Parry who shared the lead after 36 holes and who stood at even par. Parry was left with a bunker shot to play at the last when play was called.
The best of the Australasians was recently turned professional Matthew Griffin who finds himself in a share of third position and three shots behind Herrera.
Peter Cooke and Jason Norris share 6th position headed the rest of the Australasians, Chris Gaunt is 13th, New Zealander Mark Purser improved to be 16th, Heath Reed, James Mclean and Adam Le Vesconte 19th, Michael Light 25th, Tim Stewart and Mitchell Tasker.
Kim Do.H, Chris Campbell, Rohan Blizzard, Adam Groom, Scott Arnold and Richard Moir sit at 47th, Graydon Woolridge and Brad Lamb 61st, Brad McIntosh 74th, Jason King 83rd, Nathan Main 89th, Vernon Sexton Fink 93rd and Anthony Brown 96th, Jamie Arnold, Stuart Lunn- Walker and Brad Andrews 102nd.
At the completion of round four the leading 80 players will remain to fight it out for one of the forty lucrative 2009 Asian Tour cards on offer.
